"And it really was nice."
In the Summer of 1969 six artists in Nashville
formed an Association of Freelance Artists know as
Studio Six. A crazy, wonderful, humorous bunch of guys.
My good friend and fellow artist in the Studio, David Wright,
(far right in the poster below) loved to walk up behind us while
we slaved away on some project or other then lean over our
shoulder and say something like: "Wow, (insert our name),
That REALLY could have been nice!"
A crazy, wonderful, humorous bunch of guys.

This was the second of our Self Promotion posters for Studio Six
printed (I think) in 1970. As best I remember, the idea was David's.
We dressed in what would appear to be 1800s clothing, gathered up
old hand guns and rifles (at least a couple of the guys were collectors)
then borrowed some sand from a local construction site to toss across
the linoleum floor of a building in downtown Nashville which was being
torn down. Someone brought the old ladder-back chairs and a bucket
of red paint for VIVA 6. Our friend and professional photographer,
Ray Pike, met us that Saturday morning for the shoot.
The hombres are, from left to right and front to back; Bob Nipp, Jim Bateman,
Ralph McDonald, Bill Davis, Bill (Neal) McPheeters and David Wright.
